Baby Chickens are finally here this spring! Oh, how I just love spring time from new baby chickens, daffodils, and morel mushroom hunting.

My father-in-law has been raising chickens for the last couple of years. I was rather surprised when he mentioned this, but it has been a great experience for our three kids. They have seen a momma hen sit and hatch babies, gather eggs, help feed them, and of course, chase them. Addie talks about her “girls” all the time and generously feeds them till we think they will pop.
Baby Chickens are Adorable!
Today my father-in-law picked up some new baby silkies! They are silkies which are so cute and fluffy… just like soft cotton balls. Each of our three kids reacted a little different to the baby silkies. Noah was super excited to hold and pick up his new friends. Addie was curious but very unsure. And, little Luke was more interested in their water bottle.

Silkies make great pets, because of their docile disposition. They do lay eggs fairly well and are great moms. So do some research and you may fall in love with these beautiful fluffy chickens too. Silkie Bantams are often referred to as the lap kitten of chickens because they are just so friendly. These four little guys or gals will be grown up before we know it.
