6 Ways to Motivate your Child to Exercise Daily
Children nowadays are more used to gadgets and televisions. Only a few would rather spend their time playing outside than playing video games. No wonder there is a huge increase of children that are overweight in the past decade.
We understand the challenges of the parents to encourage their children to eat healthily and exercise regularly. Below are some of the tips on how to motivate your child to exercise daily and be active.
-
Plan Ahead
If you want your child to have a daily exercise and stick with it religiously, you have to think of a plan that would work to help you achieve this goal. First, evaluate your child and the physical activities that he would enjoy more. Check his schedules daily and find a time where it is convenient for him to have an exercise. When everything is well-organized, you would more likely achieve your goal.

Bring in some competition
Have you been having a problem getting your child to exercise?
Work on the competitiveness in him by bringing in someone, maybe a friend or a younger sibling, which could challenge him to do better. Some children work harder when they want to prove that they are stronger and can do better. Or even by exercising with your kids.
Vertical climbing machines are a great tool that would keep your child interested in exercising. Search the internet for the best vertical climbers for exercise.
-
Make it as a fun-filled group activity
Another way that your child will look forward to having his daily exercise is if it is done as a group activity. Invite some of his friends over and have some games or activities that will develop not just their motor and physical skills, but also their social and intellectual skills. Outdoor games and sports are a great example.
-
Turn the television and video games off.
It’s hard to persuade your child to be active when they are always glued to their chair, either in front of the TV or playing video games. Implement a rule where screen time is limited, say perhaps only allow them an hour of TV and video games on weekdays.
They will exercise more if they are not always distracted by the television. Plus, decreasing the amount of time that they spend on TV, or video games would increase the amount of time that they spend not just doing motor activities but also in engaging in social activities.
-
Reward your child for exercising.
Always make sure that good deeds are always followed by praises and reward. They would feel good about themselves and would be more motivated to keep up with their exercise routine if you give them rewards after you have accomplished your goal.
You don’t have to spend all your savings account on these rewards. A simple thing would do like you cook them their favorite food when they were able to do an hour of exercise today. And, for even a better experience have your kids help prepare the meal with you with these tips.
They would stick to their exercise daily since they have something to look forward to after.
-
Create your mini-sports team
Exercise time will be more fun and exciting if it is done together by the whole family. Divide your family members into two teams and play some exciting outdoor games or sports. To add more challenge, you can create a rule where the winning team will get to pick the food for dinner. While the losing team will get to do the dishes.
This hits two birds with one stone: You already encouraged your child to exercise, plus you get to build stronger relationships with your family.
Recap:
Encouraging your child to exercise daily could sometimes be challenging, but with these easy tips, they are surely on their way to the best and healthiest version of themselves.
