This a story which most moms experience… when your little girl cuts her own hair. I know boys do this too, but my boys just have no interest in haircuts.

I have adored her sweet little girl curls, but she had other plans.
My sweet and super mischievous Addie decided she wanted short hair. Did she ask me? Did she ask Daddy? Or maybe Grandmas? Of course not! That would just be too easy. Let me explain how the night went.

The Story Begins: My Little Girl Cuts Her Own Hair!
She took a three-hour late afternoon nap with grandma and came home super wired. Any mom of a three will understand how naps like that only happen for other people. So hubby gets all the kids in bed, and the boys are out of it. So I sit down to watch my favorite tv show and hear her door open and close.
So I sit down to watch my favorite tv show and hear her door open and close. No big deals right? She must have needed a different baby doll. This happens a lot!
I foolishly ignored it, and I was super excited my little girl went back in her room. Most nights we have to put her in bed three or four times, and I was just so excited she went back to bed.
Except she didn’t!
My little girl decided to pick up mommy’s office scissors and sneak off to her room. So about 30 minutes later, I hear the door open again, and she is crying as walking down the steps.
Could she just be scared? As I approached her, she automatically quit the waterworks, and switched to that sweet and innocent voice (which always means trouble) and tells me she cut her hair.
- As you can tell by this expression she just loves it.
- A side picture of her masterpiece.
- A back view of her hair.
My Little Girl cuts Her Own Hair!
At this point, I realize what just happened…..
How did my little girl just cut her own hair? Why?
I just stare…. and stare… and stare…. this could not have just happened. Right? Where did it all go? All her sweet baby curls… were just gone. Should I cry and mourn them? What good would that do?
So, I put on my super brave mommy face, set my little girl on the couch, and had a conversation with her. To see that conversation just watch the below YouTube video.
So at this point, it is time to call both grandmas, and they cannot believe it till we send a few text messages over. We were all so happy that she did not cut herself. As you can see from the pictures she came really close to her ears and scalp in several places.
She is very proud of her new hairdo. She loves it and has even let me blow dry it. We even had a great visit to the salon.
- My girl at the salon…
- All dressed up and showing off her new haircut with her brother.
So I close this post with the fact that my little girl is now growing up, and ready to be a big girl. As much as I hate it, she will not let me keep her little much more, and my little girl may just take the world by scissors.
Do you have a funny story about your child cutting their hair? If so let’s share them in the comments below.
I better hide the scissors!
With lots of laughs,
Haley
