Are you trying to plan a fun trip to Kentucky soon? I thought I would write about our personal favorite family fun places to visit in Kentucky. These are the places we enjoy the most throughout our home state.
My Favorite Family Fun Places In Kentucky!
1- Louisville Zoo
We love how kid friendly our zoo is. This is my number one favorite family fun place to visit. From the Polar Bears to Gorillas, you will love how interactive the Louisville Zoo is. I would allow all day, so pack a lunch and some snacks to fully enjoy the day (plus save some extra money).
This year they have an awesome Lego® Brick Sculpture Event going on from April 10 – July 5, 2015. The zoo will playfully decorate with 23 whimsical LEGO brick sculptures! All sculptures created by renowned artist and children’s author, Sean Kenney.
These amazing sculptures were created by using over a quarter of a million bricks – in fact, 464,770 to be exact.
My oldest is a Lego® nut! So we are planning on taking him to a special Lego bash on either May 30 or May 31 st.

2- Kentucky Science Center
The Science Center has fun family activities from ages 2 and up (even adults will enjoy it). You will need to be sure and wear your walking shoes when you visit here! Science Center also has a huge 4-Story digital theater, that you will want to visit defiantly. I would recommend at least 4 hours to fully explore all the exhibits.

3- Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory
I’m no baseball fan, but I enjoyed our visit here. To see the craftsmanship that goes into on of their bats is amazing. So be sure and tour the factory, because you will receive your own FREE miniature Louisville Slugger bat! You can also order your own fully personalized bat for your baseball fan. I would allow at least 2 hours to visit here.

4- Mammoth Cave
Mammoth Cave is a great family fun place to visit. It is the world’s longest known cave system, with more than 400 miles explored. You will love the tour, and the guides are very educational. When you visit Mammoth Cave National Park you can enjoy cave tours, surface hikes, canoeing on the Green River, picnicking, horseback riding, bicycling, camping and much more.
5- Newport Aquarium
You will enjoy the Surrounded by Sharks exhibit which is over 385,000 gallons. As you walk through the acrylic tunnels, you see the sharks swim over and beside you for an amazing view. This aquarium has so much to offer from stingrays, jelly, otters, penguins, and much more. I would allow at least a half a day here.
6- National Corvette Museum
Have a car lover in the family? There is only one Corvette Museum! Last years sinkhole can’t stop the National Corvette Museum! Step inside to see over 70 Corvettes in periodic settings including mint classics, prototypes, rare finds and racing champs. Try your hand at one of many trivia kiosks, the Pit Crew Challenge, educational driving simulators and Pat’s Super Service Center within the KidZone.
7- The National Quilt Museum
This would be a great place for any future designer to visit. The exhibits feature the most valuable, inspiring, and thought-provoking fiber art artifacts made by the most respected artists in the medium. The Museum’s onsite and traveling exhibits are viewed by over 110,000 people per year. This would be best visited by older children and teens.
So next time you are visiting, I hope you can take time to enjoy our favorite family fun places in Kentucky!
